2015 High School Graduates

Jezyl Tumala Raya

I was in grade four when I joined The Light Christian Academy of ABC Children’s Aid Philippines and feel very blessed to be completing my high school this year. My father works as a laborer in sugarcane fields and my mother helps him as much as she can while taking care of the family needs at home as well. With our family’s monthly income of Pesos 2,000 per month, it would have been very difficult for me and my sister, Hershyl Raya, to complete our high school education. My sister, after completing her high school last year from the same school is now taking up college education in Binalbagan with the help of ABC. She is a student of Education aiming to become a teacher in secondary school. I also would want to continue my college education and become an elementary school teacher some day. My parents are so grateful for all that ABC has done for us and we hope and pray that my dream of becoming a trained teacher someday will become a reality.

Grazel Anacan Arnaez

I come from a family of 9 and we live in a one room house. I have four brothers and two sisters. My father works as a truck driver earning around Pesos 2,000 per month and my mother is a housewife. I joined the Light Christian Academy of ABC Children’s Aid Philippines as a first-year high school student. My experience in this school has been very positive. Teachers are so patient with us and very consistent in helping us academically and teaching us the core values of a Christian life. I am so grateful to ABC for giving me an opportunity to complete my high school which would have been a challenge due to financial constraints. My wish is to become a policewoman someday so I can help my family and the community.

Jeffer Tiangson Martirez and Joana Grace Tiangson Martirez

Both of us, brother and sister, are so proud to be completing our high school education in The Light Christian Academy of ABC Children’s Aid Philippines. We are a family of four living in a one room house. Our mother is a housewife and our father, who is a driver by profession, can’t work due to arthritis. Our house was destroyed by the most destructive typhoon, Yolanda and the community gave us some funds to rebuild our lives. Our parents decided to invest that amount in a small store and small daily income from this venture helps us meet our daily needs. Jeffer: While studying in this school, I grew closer to God because of Christian values that are promoted and upheld by our teachers. I wish to become a civil engineer someday and hope and pray that God will make it possible. Joana: This school taught me to take my responsibilities seriously and gave me a positive outlook on life. I wish to continue my education and someday receive a college degree in elementary education.

Ruthmary Charlaimee Christyjanna J. Llamado

I come from a family of seven and we live in a two-room house. My mother is a housewife while my father works as a fisherman making around Pesos 2,000 per month. I transferred to The Light Christian Academy of ABC Children’s Aid Philippines in the third year of high school. In my former school, I found myself to get involved in groups that influenced me to join them in all kinds of bad vices. In ABC school, with the help of dedicated Christian teachers, I learned to respect people and started to listen to instructions of the elders. Very soon I realized that the life I was leading before I joined this school would have to lead me to bad future. ABC school has shown me a path to a better life and I am so grateful to my teachers for being there for me throughout my studies in this school. Someday I wish to become an elementary school teacher and hope and pray that God will make it possible for me.
